The Pearl IslandsThe Pearl Islands is an archipelago located directly south of Panama City. In pre-Columbian times, they were ruled by an Indian king whose subjects’ main occupation was diving for pearls. Pearls were then used as ornaments and to trade with. Some of the most renowned pearls in the world were collected in these waters. ContadoraContadora is the fifth largest of the Pearl Islands and is located in the Pacific Ocean about 50 miles from Panama City. This islet features fine hotels, restaurants, a dive shop, a 9-hole golf course and even a duty-free store. You may enjoy any of the 13 beautiful beaches which encircle this islet or take excursions to nearby islands, most of which are uninhabited and find your own private beach for sunbathing and picnicking.
