Cerro Punta Panama

Cerro Punta is located in Panama’s highest peak at 10,000 feet, in the Province of Chiriqui, and it is set almost 2000m above sea level in a bowl-shaped valley surrounded by densely forested mountains

In the eighty or so years since Cerro Punta was settled, agriculture has expanded rapidly and the town is now the biggest producer of all the vegetables consumed in Panama.

Cerro Punta Climate

The Spring-like weather is pleasant and cool, and no air conditioning or heating is required. This Panamanian area has a brisk and cool climate that ranges from 50-65 Degrees Fahrenheit. It has been named, together with the adjacent areas of Boquete and Volcan, as one of the top places in the world to retire by prestigious magazines such as Modern Maturity and International Living.

Must See Destinations

The village and surrounding fields are simply gorgeous filled with an abundance of flowers and hummingbirds. The spectacular scenery, together with its cool, crisp mountain air makes Cerro Punta, a perfect place for hiking, and it is only a short distance from the pristine cloud forests of La Amistad and Volcan Baru. These parks are possibly the best places in all of Central America to catch a glimpse of the elusive quetzal, particularly in the dry season between January and April.

Another worthwhile destination is the Finca Dracula Orchid Farm, about a five minute walk beyond the Los Quetzales Lodge and Spa in Guadelupe and home to one of the most complete orchid collections in all of Latin America.

You can view endless amounts of farmland developed right on the mountain side. It is really cool to look at.
